Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service
Community Hospital Corporation in partnership with its hospitals is pleased to announce the search for the 2017 Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service winner to recognize our caring, compassionate and humanitarian employees.
Dan Wilford is the former Memorial Hermann Healthcare System President and CEO. He was a role model and mentor for many executives including Mike Williams and others within CHC, showing a strong work ethic that included a strong moral code and spiritual orientation. He is one of the visionaries who helped create Community Hospital Corporation. Among his many honors is his 2009 induction into Modern Healthcare Magazine’s Hall of Fame.
Each hospital will conduct a search at their hospital to find one individual who is an outstanding example of compassion and community service. Employees are invited to nominate co-workers using the approved nomination form which is attached, available on the public drive, or from any Selection Committee Member listed below. Please submit your completed nomination form in a sealed envelope addressed to the Dan Wilford Award Selection Committee in any of the suggestion boxes or the Human Resources mailbox no later than the end of the work day on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
Full-time and Regular Part-time employees are eligible. The criteria to consider when nominating a co-worker for the Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service should be based on someone who demonstrates:
- remarkable concern for the welfare and happiness of patients
- significant contributions to the improvement of their community’s health and welfare
- a level of commitment to community service beyond the daily operation of the facility
- extraordinary acts of kindness
- positive effect on others
- competent, consistent and people-oriented day-to-day performance
The Selection Committee comprised of Alberta Brown (2015 local winner), Loy Smith (2016 local winner), Kathleen Hermes, Public relations, Karen Roznovsky, Director of Human Resources, Karen Barber, CEO and Jennifer Franklin, CCO, will review the nominations and select YCH’s 2017 winner. Nominations should include relevant information, facts, etc. to support the nomination. The more complete and compelling the reasons for the nomination the better chance there will be for selection.
The winner of Yoakum Community Hospital’s Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service will be announced the week of February 27, 2017.
Yoakum Community Hospital’s winner will be submitted for consideration of the CHC corporate-wide Award. CHC will select one of the submitted hospital winners to represent the group as the single winner of the CHC Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service.
The corporate Wilford Award winner will have his/her name engraved along with previous winners on the Dan Wilford Award for Compassion & Community Service plaque which hangs on the wall in the CHC Corporate offices in Plano, and receive a $500 AMEX gift card which will be presented to the winner at his/her hospital by the CHC Chief Executive Officer.
